The home of the greatest of the Hebrew writers in modern times, Shmuel Yosef Agnon, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, where he lived with his family for many years and wrote his famous literary works.
A historic 2-storey building in Jerusalem's Talpiot quarter, it has been renovated and restored to show visitors as it was during Agnon's lifetime, including the furniture and original objects d'art and a huge library of thousands of books crowded into his study on the second floor.
After its inauguration as the Agnon heritage literary and cultural center, the building opened its doors to workshops, study evenings, tours, and numerous cultural activities.
The Foundation financed the preservation of the thousands of books contained in the Agnon library, as well as an advanced Internet website to provide potential visitors fromIsraeland overseas with a more comprehensive impression of Beit Agnon. |
